Purnululu was only known to Aboriginal people and a few adventurers. Listed as a World Heritage Site since 2003, Purnululu remains a mythical and isolated world of breathtaking natural beauty.
Purnululu National Park is a mythical and isolated world of breathtaking natural beauty. Beyond Cathedral Gorge, beyond the famous domes and Piccaninny Gorge, in the heart of the park, in a world forgotten by tourists, carved by almost 400 million years of erosion, snuggled up in lost times, five small gorges are hidden: “The Five Fingers”.
The "Five Fingers" are, therefore, five small gorges, all five different from each other. Sometimes 200 meters high, the cliffs shrink, leaving the walker with only the space necessary for his progress. The light is dimmed; the orange-red of the rock collars the daylight, making it a light pink. The air is cooling. We evolve in a world of unreal dimensions.

Duration: Two Weeks
The expedition starts at 7:00 a.m. on the nominated date. We will travel all morning to commence our exploration deep into the Purnululu National Park.
We will walk a maximum of 10 to 12 km on some days, and on other days, we will stay at our camp. The weather will decide our walking pace!
The weather in the area can vary greatly during the Dry and even more during the Wet. Daytime temperatures can climb beyond 40° C, and rain can be sudden and abundant.

In the heart of Purnululu National Park, in a world forgotten by tourists, carved out by almost 400 million years of erosion, snuggled up in lost times.

The “Five Fingers” are, therefore, five small gorges, all five different from each other. The first gorge, Finger 1, is a series of increasingly long pools wedged between sandstone walls smoothed by the summer rains.
We enter the second gorge through a tunnel. It's a pleasant stroll along natural corridors that end in pools.
The third gorge is full of surprises: a source of clear water discovered on purple rocks and a well that seems bottomless.
And a cave that leads somewhere!
You must invent your way between large blocks of sandstone to reach the well and the long, somewhat mysterious tunnel of the fourth gorge.
During my first visit, I preferred the Finger 5 because of its natural charm, which I discovered as an offering.
We will camp for four days in the Piccaninny Gorge, near a small body of water. I will take care of the dinner while you enjoy the swimming pools near the camp.
For those who are tempted, it is possible to get on a helicopter at the end of our walk to see from above what we will have discovered from below.
